About Us - Meet Our Family

Let me tell you about us. We are an RVing family. We have been camping for many years. Our adventure started when our children were young. Being the parents of 7 boys and 2 girls, we had to do something to occupy all of them. We decided to try camping.

When we started out, tents were our campers. We would spread out several tents on one camping pad. Talk about a close knit family, that's what we were. I bet our site was the talk of the campground. They probably talked about us having a full camping site full of kids and tents!

Now we were starting to get a little older and our children were getting a lot bigger, so those tents just would not cut it anymore for us. We purchased a pop-up camper. Boy hidey, we looovvveeed that. Not only was we off the ground, but we were enclosed and cool. That pop-up had an air conditioner. That's a long way from box fans running and sweating all night.

After our children started getting married, it was just me and my husband, which was nice for a change. Of course, the kids would show up at the campground around eat time! Pops (my husband) gained lots of experience with fire-pit cooking. It made my time camping much more enjoyable cause he does most of the cooking! He gets out the iron skillet and cooks bacon and eggs for breakfast every morning. He grills hamburgers on the open pit. We cook hot dogs over the open fire-pit. Sometimes we wrap potatoes in heavy duty aluminum foil two times and stick them in the coals and have baked potatoes. He is an expert at chicken and steaks. We get those cans of spaghetti-o's and open the tops and close it back and put them directly on the fire-pit grates and heat them up to go with our hot dogs. There are so many good things you can eat while camping!!

Now that you know about us, please let us know about you and your camping experiences. We would love to hear about your family.

We gained a granddaughter, Morgan, and then another, Madison. Our camping trips were then a 2nd generation event. We took them almost every time we went. We could not have survived without this huge wagon with blow-up wheels. They rode in it everywhere we went. Of course, that saved our hips from carrying them around.

That wagon hauled wood for cooking and night heat, carried ice from the host station to the campsite, rode kids, and even a few bugs and frogs. We still have that wagon and it is still going strong. Morgan and Madison finally got big enough we didn't have to babysit them while camping.

We decided that pop-up just wasn't big enough anymore, so we traded it in for a 27 foot bumper pull. I guess the more room you have, the more you can put in it, because we were blessed with twins, Karlee and Kaleb. So here we go again, pulling kids in that same wagon, reverting to the family campouts again.

We have since gained 2 more granddaughters, Gabby and Anna, and 1 more grandson, Stevie, and another on the way. These three don't get to go camping with us because they live away from us. Gabby and Anna's mom serves our country as an Air Force Staff Sargeant. Stevie's parents live out of town. Maybe one day we will be actually starting over with 9 grandchildren in the place of those 9 children. May the circle of life never be broken.

I hope we, better known now as Granny and Pops, have instilled in our children the value of family time and closeness. After all, we still have the camping passion and are willing to pass that love on the grands!
