Boating - Creating Waves Of Fun At The Campground For Fishing Or Skiing

Boating is a very popular water sport at campgrounds with a lake or river. You will find them on the water at all times of the day and night. Some people use them for fishing while others are pulled while skiing. You will find your water cruisers, just touring around the water edges. On occasion, you may see a barge carrying loads of cargo pushed by a small tug. You will find excitement going on wherever you see them on the water. All hours of the day, you can see a different variety on the water. Some are going slow, others look like they are flying. I love to watch the waves they create after they pass by. These waves sloshing against the bank is quite soothing. If you get really close to the bank, you can even see some minnows and small fish swimming around. My grandchildren love to watch them. Of course, they would love to jump in with them. Turtles are a popular sight to see. Our binoculars get a work out when we take them camping. They are combing the water for anything floating just to see what it is! I love to see them exploring and having fun.

It is fun just to sit around along the bank of the water and watch these water wonders fly by. The shapes and sizes will astound you. Did you know some people actually live on them? Yes they do!! I can't imagine being surrounded by water at all times. I like to walk outside in the yard, and there is no yard on the water. I would guess you would have to love the water to live on it. The size of these live-ons are impressive. We've seen several on the water in our times of camping. We've never been inside them so I'm not sure of the lay out, but the deck is a good size for enjoying the scenery in the camp area. Now I could live in my camper, but would not want to live in a floating camper!!

These baby ships come in many different styles and uses. You have ones for fishing, one for speeding, one for skiing, one for living in and one for touring. You will likely see any of these at any time during your stay at the campgrounds. You will see, at some time, a tug pushing a barge. Sometimes you can feel the ground rumble when they come through. It is interesting to me how a small tug can push such large barges through the water and harldy even hear it coming or going. Most of the time, during the day, you will hear a horn blowing to warn you of one coming around the bend. But during the night, you may hear the slight sound of water hitting the banks ever so softly. Sometimes you can hear the engine rumble just enough to know it is a barge going through. These barges carry all kinds of goods through the water to a determined destination. Some carry coal, gravel, sand, logs, steel, sawdust and even go through empty on their way to load up. Can you imagine how deep these are in the water? We can only see the surface of them, but I'm sure they are massive underwater. It is an amazing sight if you have not ever seen one.

Boats and fishing go hand in hand. You will most likely find fishermen on the water at all times. They are trying their luck at a meal. Some stay on the water all day fishing for their supper and it's FREE. It only costs you a little time, and a lot of different baits to catch them. Of course, finding the right lure or bait is the tricky part of catching those fish. Fishing on the water is an interesting sport. It takes much patience. You will find all kind of water vessels. You have the basic green one, some have seats built in, some are sparkly and bright colored, some are fancy with rod holders built in, some are long enough for a group of fishermen and some are made for just a couple of people. Any one you choose will accomplish the same results. It's just a matter of what you want it to look like.

What is skiing without a boat? People fly through the water on these skinny long wood slats holding a rope and having the best time! That water sport is not as easy as it looks (so I'm told). We are not a water savvy family. Watching it is enough for me. It is interesting to watch beginners learning to ski. If you sit and watch, you will laugh at times. Then you will want to cry. Finally you clap and cheer for them. You can almost feel the determination in the air as these beginners learn to ski. Practice is the key to perfecting it. If you are already a skiier, you are the ones we as campers enjoy watching. Just remember to have fun and be safe!
