Camping Grills Are Used Anywhere You Want To Cook

Camping grills come in various shapes, sizes and weights. Different types of grills determine cooking time and performance. Let's look at gas grills.

Knowledge is king in the selection of various kinds. This includes finding the best one for the type of adventure you are going on. For outdoor use, most use a propane bottle type.

Performance of the different fuel types may vary depending on the size of the tank and what you are cooking. A propane stove's performance is measured in BTUs (British Thermal Unit). It needs to have a high BTU.

With incredible cooking power, with each burner fully adjustable up to 10,000 BTUs. This Coleman Red Two Burner Electronic Ignition Propane Grill Stove provides PerfectFlow technology ensures consistent fuel output under adverse conditions such as weather, altitude and low fuel levels. Large control knobs positioned on the front for easy access, making cooking a breeze.

Cleanup is even easier with an aluminized cooking surface, heavy-duty removable chrome cooking grate and non-stick cast-aluminum grill grate. Burns for up to 4 1/2 hours on low setting.

Anything above 1,000BTUs will do a great job of cooking. Propane is probably the most common fuel for cooking. The positive aspect is the lack of maintenance requirements and ease of use. Although most of the propane grills are more expensive to replenish.

  • Using Liquid Fuels
  • Liquid fuels such as Coleman fuel, some call it white gas, is available in any camping store. Other liquid fuels used to cook with are: kerosene, alcohol and unleaded petrol (gasoline).

This Coleman RoadTrip Classic Grill comes in blue and is a wonderful standing cooking gas grill that features two powerful 10,000 BTU burners and a 285 sq. in. cooking surface. Removable mix-and-match die cast aluminum surfaces: grill and griddle. Incredible instastart ignition for easy, matchless lighting. The lid detaches to accommodate larger pots and pans.

It comes with a removable drip pan for easy clean-up. It has easy-carry side handles. It operates on a 16-oz. propane cylinder (sold separately) or adapts to 20 lb. tank. The Manufacturer gives a long 5 year limited warranty.

Using liquid fuel, be sure you know how the priming, preparation and maintenance is required, which is demonstrated easily on the user's guide. In short, fuel such as kerosene generates a lot of unwanted dirty soot.

It also has many advantages such as low cost, and cooking well at low temperatures. Be aware of the fuels that work best in different conditions. Do your research before you purchase any type of camping gas grill. Make sure it is suited for your needs.

When using a charcoal grill, you will have to keep your temperature regulated by opening or closing the vents. Your food will cook evenly if the temperature is always right.

Use charcoal and lighter fluid according to the amount of food you will be cooking. Lighter fluid is highly flammable, so be sure to keep it out of reach of children.

Never use lighter fluid for anything other than it's purpose of igniting charcoal. Squeeze out the proper amount and let it soak into the charcoal for a few minutes before lighting. Be sure to use proper cautions when using a flame near lighter fluid. It will ignite quickly and could cause burns.

Cooking on a charcoal grill makes for some great tasting foods. You can cook anything on a charcoal grill just as you can a gas grill. Do your research on both types of camping grills to see which one is right for you and you cooking needs.

  • Purchasing a Camping Grill
  • There are a lot of very good quality choices of camping grills. Invest in a good brand name one. Many campers use Coleman for camping grills, as you can buy them at just about any outdoor store. Check with Wal-Mart in the camping section.

You will probably find one there. As the old saying goes, buy cheap, pay twice. For a family, a two-burner type is the best option and has enough room to cook larger meals.

Make sure the one you choose has the side shields that reflect wind. If it doesn't, you may end up with no fire or trash in your food. Make sure the grill is sitting on a stable surface before using it. Keep children away from the grill.

  • Safety Precautions
  • Whichever type you choose, will need to be as safe as possible. Most safety is common sense, but even then, you're working with flammable materials. Your stove comes with instructions for using it safely. This helps you become familiar with the functions of the grill and also to check that everything is in good working order.

When filling a gas grill with fuel, make sure the unit is cooled to avoid getting burned. If you spill or overflow the fuel, please, allow the spilled fuel to evaporate before lighting it. Use a funnel to prevent fuel spills.

Check it often for wear or rusting. Keep it clean and away from other flammables, such as a burning candle or lantern. This is certainly recommended for all campfire camping supplies if it was stored for winter or over a long period of time. Check hoses and valves on a gas grill for cracks or possible leaks.

If yours came in a carry case or a storage bag, keep it protected by using it. Make sure you clean it good before storing it. Empty all the fuel on a gas grill back into a designated container.

You can use your camping grill anywhere. They are portable, so you can take it on picnics or backyard cookouts. They can even be used at the beach or parks for family reunions.
