Cochrane Campground - Located On Gainsville Lake Waiting For You

Cochrane Campground is on the banks of Gainsville Lake in Aliceville, Alabama. It is part of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. There is a Day Use Area that is separate from the campground.

There is a fee to use the Day Area. There is a wonderful picnic area. Makes a great place for gatherings.

Once you get into the campground area, you will begin to see the majesty of God's creation. This is an awesome testimony of beauty.

Sites 1 - 10 are not on the water bank. Sites 11 - 60 are along the water bank. All 60 of these excellent sites have concrete pads.

Each site has:

  • fire ring
  • electrical connection
  • water connection
  • shade trees
  • Facilities Include:

  • disability access sites
  • disability restrooms
  • sanitary dump station
  • laundry facilities
  • restrooms with hot showers
  • playgrounds

  • Cochrane Campground is just a hop and a jump from Aliceville, Alabama. In Aliceville, you will find grocery and hardware stores, restaurants, pharmacies and shopping centers.

    Additional attractions include the Aliceville POW Museum and the Cultural Arts Center.

    Directions to the Aliceville Museum

    From Birmingham – Take Interstate 20/ 59 to Exit 40 ( Eutaw/Aliceville Exit) take a right off the exit ramp onto State Highway 14. Continue on Highway 14. You will come to a . stop sign in Aliceville. Turn left onto Memorial Parkway. Travel 3 blocks and turn right onto Broad Street. The museum is located on the corner of Memorial Parkway and Broad Street.

    From the South – Take Highway 14 from Selma north to Aliceville. You will come to a stop sign. Turn left onto Memorial Parkway. Travel three blocks and turn right onto Broad Street. The museum is located on the corner of Memorial Parkway and Broad Street.

    From Columbus, MS – Take Highway 69. 69 changes to Highway 14 in Alabama. You will pass through Pickensville, and be 10 miles from Aliceville. You will come to a red light in Aliceville. Take a left, go two blocks to the 4-way stop sign and turn right onto Broad Street. The museum is the last building on the left on Broad Street. Look for the green awning.

    You can also find a Historical Bed and Breakfast along with some outstanding restaurants. Most are withing driving distance.

    You will be pleased to see the abundance of grocery stores, shopping facilities, restaurants, diners and lodging for your guests.

    The outstanding views from the river will keep you coming back year after year, especially during the Fall when the leaves are turning colors. The beauty alone will draw photographers into a Kodak paradise.

  • From Aliceville, Alabama, take Highway 17 south 10 miles. Approximately 2 miles from the Hyuck Bridge, turn right at the sign for the Cochrane Recreation Area. Follow the paved road approximately 2 miles. The campground is located to the left.
