RV Bedding

RV bedding is usually a full sized mattress in the main sleeping area, but not always. In newer travel trailers it is not a thin "wanna-be". You will find it to be comfortable. Sleeping on it should be just like being at home. The ideal RV mattress has springs and a good thick topping on it.

For those who have sleeping problems, you can get a mattress to meet your needs. You can even get a memory foam top. They come in any size to fit any bed you want to have one on.

Some travel trailers have bunk beds, usually in the secondary sleeping quarters. The one we used to have had some of the hardest RV mattresses imaginable, just thin foam. No one was comfortable.

But, you can change any RV bedding out to whatever you want. Foam toppers can be made to fit. One of the best things we did was put a mattress cover over the tops of the beds.

This protects the mattress from dirt, snack crumbs (and yes they do get in there some kind of way), rocks, sand and rips. All you have to do is take it off and wash it.

Tips for Choosing RV Bedding

1. Bed Sizes: RV bed sizes can differ from standard residential bed sizes. They may be shorter, narrower, or a non-standard size. Understanding your RV bed dimensions is the first step in choosing the right bedding. Measure each sleeping space before you go shopping for new bedding for your travel trailer or RV.

2. Material and Comfort: Due to the varying temperatures and environments you'll experience while camping, it's essential to select bedding materials that are comfortable for different climates. Breathable materials such as cotton or bamboo are great for warmer temperatures, while flannel or fleece might be more appropriate for cooler climates. So the bedding you choose might depend on where you're going.

3. Storage: Space is usually limited in a travel trailer, so bedding needs to be easy to store. Look for bedding that is lightweight, easy to fold or roll, and doesn’t take much space when stored. You could use old pillow cases to store each bed set.

4. Sleep Accessories: Alongside bedding, consider other sleep accessories like a mattress topper for additional comfort or bed suspenders to keep sheets in place. Remember to choose pillows that are comfortable but also compact enough for storage. If you're picky you might want to bring your favorite pillow from home on each travel trailer adventure.

5. Washable and Durable: Since the bedding will be used frequently and possibly in outdoor environments, opt for bedding that's easy to clean. Preferably, the bedding should be machine-washable and made of durable material to withstand frequent wash and use.

6. Multipurpose: For even more efficiency, consider bedding that can serve multiple purposes. For example, a quilted throw can be used as a bedcover, a picnic blanket, or a wrap in the evening when temperatures drop.

If you think you'll be selling your travel trailer in a couple of years, you might want to store the RV bedding that came with it and replace it with something you like better. Then when it's time to sell, you can say it has new bedding.

Our kids liked to just put their sleeping bags in the bunk bed and sleep inside them.

No complaints from me. Just toss it in the washer and dryer and that's it. No climbing across the beds or fighting with the sheets in those tight corners.

Most of the time you can find a replacement mattress in your hometown. Some are very expensive. Be sure you get what you want the first time, as most places don't take them back once you have slept on it.

I recommend investing in a good quality mattress. Sleep is so important, even on a camping trip.

Best rest to you and happy camping!! :)
